Frames can't catch you when you're moving like that...

Hmm. Do you think I'll get in trouble for posting this? Aw, heck, what are they going to do, shut me down? Go ahead and try.

Here it is, for the many who have clamoured for it: the State of the County address from Tuesday night. Somewhere between TiVo, DVD, Handbrake, iMovie and Google Video, the dubbing got a little screwy. Oh, well.

He can read. He sounded rather stilted, especially when he congratulated people without even looking up. He may also want to take a breath once in a while.

He also made it only one minute into the speech before mentioning "I was born and raised in the County" -- ugh.

He also graduated from a Howard County school -- I am glad that he mentioned that.

My favorite was the promises. Instead of substantive promises, he promised to "work hard" and "do my best"

It's great to finally have a representative whose of my generation. I'm tired of all the old farts, who don't know their Wii from their sphincter, making decisions that affect kids, teens, young, and middle-aged adults. I'm happy for the energy and passion Ulman brings. It's about time our County had some fresh faces, new perspectives, and impressive education and experience to boot.

Speaking of fresh faces and age, how about stopping the whining and start getting out the vote from younger people?

I think this was the second time he gave the speech that day and the people he congratulated were not there.

What substantive promises did you expect with two months in and almost four years to go? COuld you offer more after being in a job for two months and making the changes he already has?

He's made plenty of changes - from replacing loyal Robey supporters with cronies.

Anything else?

Those loyal Robey supporters were, in fact, loyal Ecker supporters. Robey kept most of the Ecker appointees when he tooks office.

The Ecker supporter ain't the problem, the lack of change in 16 years is.

Ulman clearly wants to make his mark and plans on being a more active participant in county government.

Some may be comfortable with the status quo. However, even if you are on the right track, you'll be run over if you just sit there.

It's OK to make changes.

It's not OK to tell people they will be kept on if they support them, have them campaign for you, then ask them to resign and/or retire.

The County wanted change and we got it. Change for change's sake is not "progressive" at all.

Yep, Ulman will leave his mark on the County...a big ugly skidmark! He stinks.

What is this, third grade?

Now if he can shake the Liz Bobo albatros Ken will be able to govern.
