The GGP discussion and the pro-editorials in the Patuxent papers from atty, real estate professional, and business consultant leave me with the feeling that those who are working a personal agenda at the expense of less informed residents will never give an inch of control to those who will have to live with the permanent consequences.
What a complete sham. The public is being duped big time on this. Turning Columbia into Bethesda east is going to be disaster, but the people most hurt will be those currently living here. The proposed road network will be a gridlock disaster. There will never be a metro station, nor will there be widely used public transit. Those are both phony pretenses to try to garner support for this ridiculous plan.
I really can't stand when architects generate these fantasy renderings of a project. All you see are the pretty trees, sunny blue skies, and smiling happy people. They never show the bad aspects of a project like gridlock, crowded parking lots where you can't find a space, litter, the smell, the noise, the dust, and on and on. Take off the rose colored sunglasses and look at the real picture without a distorted filter.
To be a upright human being is to from a philanthropic of openness to the world, an ability to trust unsure things beyond your own manage, that can lead you to be shattered in very exceptional circumstances as which you were not to blame.
