Bad news...

Apparently, The Wire is taking this week off (because of On Demand, I usually watch episodes the Monday before their air date, which is when they become available). Episode #44 -- "Unto Others" -- will not be shown on regular HBO until Sunday, October 29, meaning it'll be On Demand next week. For those of you as obsessed with the show as me, my pain is surely understandable, but if you're interested in the smartest Wire talk around, check out Heaven and Here. They just posted an interview with David Simon, who made his presence known in the site's comments section a few weeks ago.

I tivo'd (is that a verb?) the Wire Monday evening and just finished watching it... It's on all week at different times. I don't know about the 'on demand' thing, though.

MC: You saw episode #43, I'm guessing, where the outcome of the election is shown. On Demand -- which is part of the digital cable package -- had that one available last Monday, as it is always a week ahead.

All things considered, it was a good place to take a week's break for the show. But still, I need my Wire.

Wasn't that a great epidosde? The ending was terrific and the beginning church scene was also subtle, yet direct in its message. The best scene, though.. had to be the one where Carcetti meets an old politician on election day and gets a history lesson on the way things used to be.

It was one of the best -- the craziness of election day. The opening church scenes -- like so many other of The Wire's compare and contrast moments (off the top of my head, the terrorism/school training sequence from this season) -- was great, but I'm partial to the scenes with strong interactions between music and action.

I wonder if there are any other readers who are Wire fans. If there's interest, I'll post something each week as a place for discussion about the show.
