Steet signs

Columbia continues its slow progression toward utter suburban banality.

Responding to laments from frustrated motorists, Howard County public works officials gradually are replacing Columbia's distinctive - but hard-to-read - street signs with rectangular signs that have a more traditional design.

It begins with changing the signs, and the next thing you know, they’ll start changing the street names. A sad day, indeed.

(Aside: Who cares if you can read street signs? Doesn’t everyone have in-car navigation systems now?
