Odds and ends (So it is written)...

I'm sitting on a couple drafts that might get posted later tonight. It has been a couple of days since I wrote a "real" post and I just wanted to let you know I'm working on it.

But while I edit the other posts (a first!), I wanted to share a few odds and ends...

If you were one of the lucky 10,000 or so folks that actually showed up for last night's sweltering Orioles game (game time temperature: 100), I was wearing a blue t-shirt and Abbzug was in a teal tank top (I know, for shame, we were wearing Mariners' colors -- but I wore an O's hat, at least).

Anyway, I share our fashion choices because we were somehow chosen as the Official Couple of the Game (my title, not theirs) and if you were there you probably saw us in one of our numerous, lengthy appearances on the JumboTron. I usually enjoy seeing my mug on the big screen (hello, handsome), but after the third or fourth time last night it became a little tiresome and embarrassing. It got to the point where one of Abbzug's old coworkers (who was at the game) called to ask how much we paid the cameraman.

There's only so much awkward pointing/waving and pretending-not-to-notice-your-massive-head-in-center-field one person can do.

Jon Stewart is coming to Merriweather.

Read about efforts to help baby American eels as they swim from the Sargasso Sea in the middle of the Atlantic to the streams and ponds of the Mid-Atlantic. Teaser: "'The life cycle of the American eel is probably the most unique life cycle of any species on Earth, with the geographic range and varieties of habitat,'..."

Finally, the votes are in and Option 1 is going into effect for comments. From now on, if you would like to comment on this blog, you must register with Blogger. As I said earlier, you do not have to give Blogger your personal email address; you can make up a new (fake) one for the sole purpose of registering.

If you have any questions or would like to comment on something but don't want to register with Blogger, you can send me an email (hocohayduke [at sign] gmail.com). I will keep all addresses and identities private.

I am sure the cameraman was just marveling at finding the cutest couple he has ever put on the JumboTron. :)
