Those gentle voices I hear, explain it all with a sigh.
I took a vacation day today because, unlike my sister and brother (who are in China and Costa Rica, respectively), my vacation this year will consist of staying in Columbia and attending meetings (woo-hoo!). Today's mini-vacation is sponsored by the Commission on the Environment and Sustainability, for which I had an early morning and, soon, an early afternoon meeting.
Meetings aside, I planned to use this day to write a weekend travelogue and respond to some comments on this site and Dan Beyers' questions at Columbia Talk. Alas, I wasted much of the post-meeting morning watching Deadliest Catch and playing golf on the Wii. Hey, I'm on vacation!
So, further writing must wait for tomorrow. But in the interim, here are some pictures I took on my bike ride yesterday. Perhaps you can piece together the clues and guess what I did.

Wow, I didn't know Joseph's Square survived the HCVC renovation.
So are all VCs connected by bikepaths or did you have to at any point use a road?
Cool bike. I saw a GF just like that one taking up about 18 spaces in the bike rack in front of my building.
I bet those 18 spaces take up less room than your vehicle, FM.
Well, Mr. Poopy Pants, my “18 spaces” comment was just a joke. More to your point, I have nothing but respect for someone who bikes rather than drives. Heck, I would kill to be able to bike to work. And if I had a GF like that, I would take up at least 24 spaces.
Hmmm...Town Center is the only Village without an actual Village Center...we're stuck with a People Tree....
About half of the VCs should leveled. Friggin eyesores!
I think this was your path, or at least the order of the photos:
1. Long Reach
2. Owen Brown
3. Kings Contrivance
4. Hickory Ridge
5. River Hill
6. Harper's Choice
7. Wilde Lake
8. Dorsey's Search
9. Town Center
10. Oakland Mills
I'm stretching on a couple of them ...
We pause for an announcement:
Social hour in downtown Columbia at the Lakeside Cafe from 11:30 - 1:30 tomorrow / Wed. for anyone who wants to drop in. Food. Coffee. Chat. Plus CA has their lunchtime concert series at the lakefront on Wednesdays, as well.
Social hour! Some of us have to work...
I played with my best friend's husband's Wii this weekend for the first time. The game I played involved bunnies and plungers. It was enough fun where I will go back and play with his Wii occasionally.
