Dropping science like Galileo dropped the orange...

Since science has been a hot topic on the local blogs recently, I wonder if some would like to weigh in on this:

The majority of Republicans in the United States do not believe the theory of evolution is true and do not believe that humans evolved over millions of years from less advanced forms of life. This suggests that when three Republican presidential candidates at a May debate stated they did not believe in evolution, they were generally in sync with the bulk of the rank-and-file Republicans whose nomination they are seeking to obtain.
I don't want to turn this post into a party- or religion-bashing, er, bash, but I'm generally curious how others feel about this, particularly Republicans who express such concern for scientific rigor when it comes to other subjects, like, oh, I don't know, climate change.

Oh I am so tempted to be so bad. I think this calls for a "dance," whether rain or fertility I'll leave up to the rest of you, on the pinhead of the nearest fundamentalist Republican. Science schmience. The earth was created in 7 days (well, 6 actually, since the 7th was devoted to naps).

If this weren't so unreal as to be unbeleivable, it would be truly scary.

I believe in evolution.

Could it be that God is the guiding hand behind evolution?

And He's behind global warming too.

If God is the guiding hand behind evolution (and life) then he is rather incompetent considering that the vast majority of mutations are dead-ends, not beneficial and often lethal.

It's funny how polarised the subject of 'the origin of life' has become. Does it not strike anyone else that the science/religion argument is somewhat of a false dichotomy?

I'm no creationist but the arguments for evolution are hardly water tight and empirically proven.

I'm not saying that I think the entire theory is garbage, merely that if the theory of evolution was sufficiently complete, then there would be a reasonable explanation of how chrysalids might have evolved.

I suppose strong empirical evidence (fossil remains)with regards to the many missing links would be nice too.

Perhaps it is just such a polarised view that stymies any divergence from the mainstay of evolutionary theory - for fear that it might appear as a chink in the armour regarding the religious right.

Essentially the subject matter is somewhat debased if we boil it down to 'God versus Evolutionary Theory'.

Do you people just enjoy riding on the coat tails of real scientists? Do you actually know what the theory of evolution is and what is can successfully account for? Or what it just absolutely can't at all account for? It's kind of bogus to prop yourselves up on being "evolutionists". Not to say that hanging onto the bible for dear life is any better, but it is more or less the equivalent of what you're doing. I think the most rational stance is to keep an open mind about things like this rather than to make it some competition for a spot on the "who's better totem pole".

hmm Maybe God planted the seeds which started evolution SO both science and religion may very possible be true

I was writing an unrelated email to a friend, and when I came back the words Dropping science like Galileo dropped the orange were in the subject line

I've never heard of this quot before so I looked it up

I'm the kind of guy who loves to try hot stuff. Right now I am building my private pv panels. I am making it all by myself without the aid of my men. I'm utilizing the internet as the only way to acheive this. I ran across a really amazing website that explains how to create pv panels and so on. The place explains all the steps needed for solar panel construction.

I'm not exactly sure about how precise the information given there iz. If some people over here who have xp with these works can have a see and give your feedback in the thread it would be great and I would really appreciate it, because I extremely would love to try solar panel construction.

Thanks for reading this. You people rock.
